U.S. Embassy Jakarta Organizes Indonesian Delegation Participating in DistribuTech, Focusing on Smart Cities and Power Distribution
The U.S. Foreign Commercial Service (FCS) from Embassy Jakarta, working with U.S. Consulate Offices in Medan and Surabaya, is accompanying a delegation of Indonesian public and private sector representatives to DistribuTech in San Antonio, Texas January 27-31. DistribuTECH International is the largest gathering of professionals in the utility, power distribution and smart grid sectors. FCS staff are accompanying representatives from Indonesia's state-owned utility seeking opportunities to upgrade their ability to move electricity from power plants through transmission and distribution systems to customers. U.S. companies participating and exhibiting at DistribuTech will be given an opportunity to meet with key decision makers in Indonesia's power sector, opening up market prospects for technology and solutions critically needed in Indonesia. Embassy staff were also able to utilize support from the interagency U.S.-ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership (USASCP) to support the participation by four municipal government officials from Sumatra and Java. These municipal representatives will be participating in a special program supported by State, Commerce, USTDA and other agencies to advance the work by the U.S. public and private sectors to facilitate development of Indonesia's smart cities and smart grid infrastructure.
