Nearly 30 government officials from ASEAN Member States and the ASEAN Secretariat attended the latest program of the long-standing U.S.-Singapore Third Country Training Program (TCTP).  Running from December 4 to 8, the weeklong “Smart Cities, Green Buildings” workshop sought to advance smart and sustainable cities collaboration in ASEAN, promulgate Green Building standards in the region, and share best practices.  The program explored not only how buildings could support climate objectives, but also how they could contribute to human health and well-being.  Presenters included USASCP Program Manager Helen Santiago Fink, an engineering professor from Nanyang Technological University, a scientist from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and numerous other experts, including trainers from the International WELL Building Institute.  Participants also made several site visits to green buildings in Singapore that have sustainability certifications, such as Green Mark, LEED, and WELL.
