Travel to Meet with U.S. Private Sector at Trade Events

The U.S.-ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership (USASCP) will develop enhanced policy and promotion programming for the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) on the margins of several key smart city trade events. This programming would proactively link U.S. technology and service providers with ASEAN-based smart city technology and service customers.

The USASCP will fund travel by smart city decision-makers, such as national smart city representatives, chief smart city officers, digital economy officers or city utility leaders, to encourage participation in high-impact trade events. Meetings will be arranged between traveling ASCN officials and U.S. companies, subject matter experts and decision-makers from relevant U.S. cities. Matchmaking sessions and roundtable discussions will be held for ASCN officials on the margins of select trade events.

To achieve sustained economic development, ASCN cities must overcome challenges related to procurement and standards, among other things. U.S. companies can provide smart city solutions to ASEAN stakeholders, and the USASCP can share innovative U.S. private sector smart cities solutions tailored for ASEAN stakeholders.

The International Trade Administration will carry out these programs in collaboration with the State Department and U.S. private industry.
